If you have a gap in your resume, don’t stress. Perhaps, you spent a year driving taxis or selling burgers between jobs or maybe you had children or went travelling.
Gaps are a lot less important in the real world than many people think. The best policy is usually the truth.
Employers are not going to frown on you if you took a couple of years off to have children or if you sat behind a checkout before landing your first “proper” job.
It’s even better if you went travelling – or said you went travelling. The next question from the interviewer will probably be: “Where did you go”, not “Why did you do that”. This gives you a great opportunity to start bonding. If you and the interviewer both happened to bike around Vietnam, you are possibly one step closer to landing the job.
